Nordic Walking was first developed by national cross country ski teams as a means to maintain fitness throughout the summer months. Fitness walkers, adventure racers and runners have caught on due to its’ flexibility and efficacy. The bottom line is that by using specialized Nordic walking poles and proper technique you can burn 40% more calories while not having to walk longer or faster, and without risking the overuse injuries that so many have suffered through due to their addiction to high-impact sports.
Equipment is simple. A pair of shoes and adjustable Nordic walking poles.
